Should I wear my hearing aid to a job interview?
January 10th, 2009 | by admin |Chris C asked:
I know it shouldn’t matter that I have a hearing aid as long as I can do the duties of the job, but would seeing an applicant wearing one give the hiring manager even a slight doubt about his ability?

I just got the HA, and it’s only on one ear, the other ear is fine without. This will be my first interview that I could wear it to.
Also, does anyone know if this can officially be considered a “handicap”?
Thanks for your help. Interview is in the morning!

well, i think it really depends on how much you can hear without it. if you can still hear well enough through the other ear, i’m sure you can do without it. but if you really depend on it for hearing, it would probably be best to wear it. because its probably worse to ask the interviewer to repeat questions and enunciate more. and i’m sure it probabaly won’t stand out a whole lot to make them reconsider you. their more interested in hiring a well qualified employee.

The question is: do you really want to work for/with people who would discriminate against you for wearing one???

The senses or partial or limited use of hearing more clearly perhaps you have full or partial loss of course you would like to mention it is considered handicap.
